LAST DAY OF CAMP

Today was the official last day of camp.  We had our program this afternoon for the parents.  It went well.  I made a video and will share it when I get back.  After school we had a party for all of the teachers and celebrated a couple of birthdays.  We went out for a great dinner tonight with the principal of the training school.  It was amazing.  We walked right up to the chefs to pick what we wanted to eat, and of course, we ate family style.  They served us American beer and the Chinese teachers drank pea juice.  It is thick and looks nasty.  We had a great dessert of a sweet pear.  It's juice is supposed to help with digestion.

Tomorrow we will go to Purple Mountain.  It has over 800 steps so I suspect it will be a long day.  We are finishing it with a massage though, so that will be great.  Saturday is a work day and Sunday the teaching begins again.  Some changes coming as to the way we are teaching but, as they say, be "flexible."  Who knows what it will look like when it finally happens.

The weather is hot and humid.  No news there for me.  I feel like I am in Wilmington!  The traffic, however, is another story.  Bikes, motorbikes, cars and buses are EVERYWHERE.  No such thing as deferring to pedestrians here :)

I bought beautiful lilies for our room today and they were less than a dollar a piece.  Dinner often costs less than the coke I buy to drink with it.

This truly has been a great experience so far.  If you ever have a chance to come, do it!

As you may know there are some political unrests here in China in the western part of the country.  As a result facebook is shut down so I must communicate from this blog and email.  If you know anyone who follows this through facebook, tell them it may be tough for a while.

Until next time...
